Today’s Black Brilliance info is about Violet King was born in 1929, and was the first Black person to get a law degree in Alberta. In 1953, she was the only woman in her graduating class. She was Canada’s first Black female lawyer. King worked hard to teach people that racism and sexism were wrong. In 1998, King was inducted into the National YMCA Hall of Fame. She inspired other racialized women to be lawyers and to follow their dreams.

Hey Seahawks! Are you interested in touring Venice, Florence and Rome during spring break of 2024? If you are, please join us in room 1416 on Tuesday Feb. 14th or Thursday Feb 16th to get more information about this exciting opportunity! This trip is open to all students currently in grades 9 through 11!

Hey Seahawks! Do you have any books or textbooks that you don’t want anymore or have no place to put them? We have an opportunity for you to donate those books! The books you will sell will then be sold and the money will be sent to Operation Smile which is an organization that makes money to give unfortunate kids the chance to have a surgery for their cleft lip. For now, the book collection will go from the 15th of February to the 23rd! You can find boxes in the library, near the office and in some classrooms starting on the 15th! Make sure to bring your books next week and become a valuable member of society by helping out children.
