Early bird tickets can be purchased for $3 during lunch in the cafeteria and $5 at the door. All proceeds and donations will be given to the BC Cancer Foundation to advance and accelerate cancer care.

The Health Science Club is hosting a two-part event on paramedical careers after high school. For two consecutive Tuesdays, guest speakers are coming in to inform students about what careers are possible in the paramedical field, what it takes to become an emergency health worker, as well the experience of going through the paramedics training. Next week on May 2nd, from 3-4pm in the library, Brian Twaites from BC Emergency Health Services is coming in to discuss what it takes and what it’s like to be an emergency health worker, from being a paramedic riding on the ambulance to working as a dispatcher in call centers.

Hey Seahawks! Did you know that last Friday was Eid? Eid al-Fitr is an Islamic festival which is celebrated by millions of Muslims around the world. It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk each day. “Eid al-Fitr” sums up the holiday fast, as it is translated from Arabic as “festival of breaking the fast”. On this day, Muslims can eat during the daylight hours after fasting during Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr features three days of celebrations that include special morning prayers. People greet each other with “Eid Mubatak”, meaning “blessed Eid” and with formal embraces. Sweet dishes are prepared at home and gifts are given to children and to those in need. In addition, Muslims are encouraged to forgive and seek forgiveness.

The Multicultural Club will be hosting an Eid celebration on Friday after school in the cafeteria for staff and students. Join us for fun activities and prizes, free food, and learn about Eid!
