She was the first Black female Member of the National Assembly of Quebec, and the youngest, as well as the first Black cabinet minister in Quebec history. She helped children with learning disabilities and served as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Health and Social Services. She served as Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities and Minister of the Family from 2010 to 2012.

Hey Seahawks! Valentine’s Day is coming up right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than watching the most iconic romance movie of all time: Shrek! This event will be hosted by Seaquam’s Health Science Club, for the Lub-Dub campaign, and will be fundraising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The movie will take place in the theatre this Thursday, on February 16th, at 5:30pm. The regular ticket price will be $3 if purchased in advance, and $5 for the ticket plus chips and a drink combo if purchased in advance. Ticket are available at lunchtime in the cafe! Regular movie tickets will cost $5 at the door. Don’t miss out!

Hey Seahawks! Remember the book collection? Have you selected the books you want to donate? The collection starts this week on February 15th. The boxes will be placed in the library, at the front desk, various classrooms, and near the office. The donated money will be given to Operation Smile, an organization that collects money for children to have cleft lip surgery. The consequences of cleft lip include, but are not limited to, malnourishment, ear infections and hearing loss as well as challenges with speech. This collection will last from the 15th to the 23rd of February so remember to donate whatever books you have to help less fortunate children.
Congratulations to the JR. Boys Basketball team for winning the Delta Championship on Saturday. The Seahawks defeated the Delta Pacers 61-46. They played strong team defense and were led offensively by Nithen Banwait’s 19 points. Good luck at the South Fraser Championships!
